Left-side categorizer and searches
Introduction
When you have selected an item type from the main menu (e.g. Products), you want to find the items you need to work with. To do that, you use either a Categorizer or a Search in the left pane.
Left-side categorizers
A Categorizer is a simple one-click tool that allows you to select items in a specific category.
If the categorizer has hierarchy, you can expand/collapse individual nodes by clicking the arrow next to the node. You can also expand all/collapse all nodes by clicking the two icons in the toolbar above.
TECH NOTE: Button to expand all are disabled if categorizer contains more than 3.000 nodes
Layout
In the toolbar next to the categorizer drop-down, you will find a Layout button. With this button you decide how you want to see data in the categorizer.
Default layout is Single Column as shown above. Other options are described below.
Table layout
Table layout is a compressed layout that loads up to three additional columns in the categorizer.
TECH NOTE: The set of additional columns are controlled via the Compact View, which is configured by your administrator.
Grid layout
Grid layout is designed to show images if one of the additional columns is an image feature.
Card layout
Card layout uses the standard card layout to display categorizer items.
Untagged
Untagged is a system-added node which appear at the top of all standard categorizers. By clicking this you will select all items that are not in any of the categories below.
Hide sidebar
Hide sidebar allows you to hide the categorizer pane and focus on the items you have selected. To unhide the pane, click the reverse arrow.
Filter items
If the categorizer contains many nodes or maybe a multi-level hierarchy, you can use Filter Items at the bottom of the pane to quickly locate the node you need.
When filtering, the categorizer will show matching nodes incl their parents (even though parent do not match filter string).
TECH NOTE: Filtering also looks at content in additional columns.
Refresh
Choose Refresh from the 3-dot menu if you want to refresh the content in the categorizer.
Manage categorizer items
If you need to add, edit, reorganize or delete categorizer items, you can do this via the right-click menu.
Edit item
If you need to update values for a specific item in the categorizer, you can use Open Item in the right-click menu. This option opens the selected categorizer item in an item editor. Here you can update values according to your permissions. Please see chapter Item Editor for details.
Add item / Add virtual item
If you need to add a new item or virtual item to the categorizer, you can use Add Item and Add Virtual Item from the right-click menu. This option opens an empty item editor where you can enrich the categorizer item with values.
When you save and close the item editor, the new categorizer item is added to the current structure. The location of the new item is relative to where you clicked the menu option:
If you clicked a virtual categorizer item, the new categorizer item is added as a child
If you clicked a normal categorizer item, the new categorizer item is added as a sibling
If you clicked in white space, the new categorizer item is added as a root item
Move item(s) to other parent
If you need to move one or more items or virtual items to another parent in the categorizer structure, you can use Move Items(s) to Other Parent from the right-click menu. This option opens an selector where you select the new parent.
Make item a root item
If you need to move one or more items to the root level of the categorizer structure, you can use Remove Parent(s) from the right-click menu.
Delete item(s)
If you need to delete one or more items from the categorizer structure, you can use Delete Item(s) from the right-click menu.
Manage [Categorizer]
If you need to make multiple changes to items in the categorizer, you can use Manage [categorizer] in the 3-dot. This opens the categorizer feature in a grid where you can add, edit, reorganize and delete categorizer items. Please see chapter Managing Items for details about managing items and values.
Left-side searches
Left-side searches allow you to find items with a certain combination of data.
Search operators
By default, search fields use MATCH as operator. As an example, if you typed in 12345 in the EAN field in the search above, all items with 12345 in their EAN code would be returned.
Some search fields show a specific operator in the upper right corner. As an example, notice that Category shows IN HIERARCHY OF in the search above. This means that if you select Coffee & Tea in the search field, all items in Coffee & Tea as well as all categories below would be returned.
Please see chapter Advanced Search for details about operators.
Search separators
All search criteria are separated with AND when search is executed. Building on the example above, if you searched for 12345 in EAN and Coffee & Tea in Category, only items matching both criteria would be returned.
