Introduction

Tools provide access to functions that work independently from the content otherwise loaded in the client.

TECH NOTE: You need permissions to access each individual tool. If you don’t have these permissions, you will not see the menu items.

Import Permissions and Role-Based Behavior

Perfion’s import-related tools Import Items, Import Logs, and the Import Wizard are subject to role-based access control. Two key roles influence what users can see and do:

CanImport Role

If a user does not have the CanImport role:

  • The Import menus will be hidden throughout the Perfion interface.

  • In the web client, the top three of the four import-related menu items will be hidden.
    (See image for reference)

Can Import Feature Data Without Validation

If a user does not have this role:

  • The option Create will not be available for UnknownSelectableHandling.

  • The option Create will not be available for ValidationViolationHandling.

These settings appear when calling the importer from an action.

Although users can select "Create Values" for both settings, they will be blocked during the final validation step unless they have the appropriate role. These options may be removed in future versions.

This behavior applies across all import tools, including the Import Wizard and the Import Logs, where visibility and available actions may be restricted based on these roles.

Import Wizard

Perfion's Import Wizard makes it easier than ever to import product data from Excel and other file formats - even if your files aren’t in the standard Perfion format. The wizard guides you through a step-by-step process to configure, map, validate, and import your data. The Import Wizard is available as of Perfion 2025-R1.

Note: The Import Wizard replaces the old “Import Items” overlay.

Find details on how to use the Import Wizard in this chapter.
