Backup

Scope

All data in the Perfion SaaS environment is backed up according to a standard schedule. Backups are taken for both the SQL databases, as well as for the virtual machines running the backend services.

The data is kept within an Azure Recovery Services vault, specific to each customer and always located in the same region as the customers' live environment and data.

Transfer of data into the backup vault has no impact on the production workloads.

Redundancy

All backups are configured with “ZRS” (Zone Redundant Storage), which means that multiple backups are saved across the Azure zone, which ensures robustness against even local physical damage/events.

Point-in-time Recovery

For the most recent time period, it is possible to restore backups from specific points in time.

For the databases, it is possible to do a PIT restore from any time within the last seven days.

For the virtual machines, it is possible to do a PIT restore from any time within the last two days.

Daily/Weekly Retention

Beyond the PIT recovery timeframe, it is possible to restore from daily or weekly restore points:

For the databases, there is weekly retention up until four weeks.

For the virtual machines, there is a daily retention up until 7 days, and weekly retention up until four weeks.

Requesting a backup restore

All communication about backups or restore procedures should be handled via the Service Desk. Should a restore be of an urgent nature, an existing Service Desk request can be escalated by sending an email to escalations@perfion.com with a reference to the request.
