Version: 2021-R1-SR2 (4.9.1)

Release date: 29 June 2021

The Perfion Database Installer is needed to install a new database or upgrade an existing Perfion database to latest release.

Important information before upgrading

Upgrading from Perfion 4.7 or older
If you are upgrading from Perfion 4.7 or older to Perfion 4.9, the new version introduces changes to the database structure. As a result, the database installer must be run before client applications are updated, and all client applications must be updated simultaneously. Perfion strongly advises storing a database backup before the upgrade takes place, and in general we recommend upgrading a separate test environment first.

One important change to be aware of, is that the installer will enforce certain integrity checks. This means that if your database contains data in an invalid state, the installation could be blocked. Most integrity violations will be automatically corrected by the installer, but certain violations can require that you communicate with Perfion support to rectify them. So plan the update accordingly.

By enforcing the integrity check, we can ensure that all databases on v4.9 or higher do not have any of these integrity issues present.

The detailed database changes can be seen in the release notes for the database installer.

Separate deployables such as Perfion API Service, Scheduler, Perfion Sync and Perfion ERP Add-in for Dynamics NAV must be updated as well (if in use). And if you have built custom integrations using the

Perfion DLL’s, these must be recompiled with the new DLL’s.
Please note that this version of Perfion requires .Net Framework 4.8 to be installed. If using the .EXE installer, you will be prompted automatically for the .Net installation.

Upgrading from Perfion 4.9 to a newer build
If you are upgrading between one Perfion 4.9 version and another (e.g. From 4.9.0 to 4.9.1), you only have to upgrade Perfion clients. You do not need to upgrade all clients at the same time, although this is always recommended for consistency between different users.

Consult your Perfion partner, or your Perfion consultant, if in doubt about these processes.
