Windows Item Editor
With the Item Editor you can edit all data related to an item. The item editor can be opened in three different ways:
Double-click any folder or barcode icon
Right-click an item and choose Open Item
Select an item in grid and press Enter
The item editor opens in a new window:
Languages
The top part of the item editor shows languages. Each language has a column of data. You can change the language of each column with the drop-down, and you can change the number of languages with the slider. If you move the slider you must close and reopen the item editor for change to take effect.
It is also possible to show selectable language variants by clicking Selectable Localizations.
Base value
The item’s base value is shown below languages. Base value can be localized or non-localized.
Tabs and view groups
Features in item editor are grouped by tabs (also known as top view groups) and view groups. In the example above, the Technical Specifications-tab has two view groups: Features and Dimensions.
Editing values in item editor
Values are edited in grid as explained in Editing values in grid.
When done editing, you click one of the three buttons:
Save & Close: Saves your changes and closes the item editor
Save: Saves your changes but leaves the item editor open with updated values
Cancel: Close item editor without saving your changes
Translation in Item Editor
As in the grid it is possible to translate values in the Item Editor.
The translate icon is only shown for feature fields of valid feature data type (string, text, rich text) and not for current language fields. The same rules regarding disable and enable the translate icon are used as for the grid Translate menu item.
If the translate icon is enabled the empty value of the field is translated from the current session language value to the fields language. The translated value is first stored when either ‘Save’ or ‘Save & Close’ is pressed.
